In order to adapt to the rapid developments in the fields of basic sciences in the world and within the scope of our country's strategic goals, two advanced international research and training summer schools were held at the Basic Sciences Research Institute (TBAE), which is in the process of re-establishment.

Adopting the principle that basic science and advanced education are always intertwined, one of the most important activities of TBAE is the realization of advanced research and training schools. In addition, the realization of similar thematic activities is included in the 11th Development Plan of our country (2019-2023).

Held between June 25 - July 4, 2019, the theme of the 1st summer school was "From Quantum to Space: Ideas and Applications". The 2nd summer school was held between July 7 - 14, 2019 on "Gravitational Waves: New Challenges and Opportunities". The main goal of these summer schools, organized within the scope of the Horizons of Science series and with an approach focused on "Let's combine our strength, do as I do", was to direct our young researchers/students to basic science fields, to arouse enthusiasm for invention, and to build excitement and self-confidence. Of the 325 students who applied to the aforementioned summer schools, 120 were able to participate. In addition, 20 students from the USA, Brazil, Italy, England, Iran, Poland, India, Algeria, TRNC, Azerbaijan, Iran, Poland, India, Algeria, Algeria, TRNC and Azerbaijan attended these schools.

In these summer schools, which cover a wide range of topics from the quantum universe to the structuring chain and matter distribution in space, from quantum 'order' at atomic and subatomic scales to information mysteries, from quantum detectors to the discovery of gravitational waves, 4, Lectures were given by 3 scientists from Oxford University (UK), 1 from Stanford University (USA), 1 from Ohio State University (USA), 1 from Munich University (Germany), 1 from Frankfurt University (Germany), 1 from Max Planck Institute (Albert Einstein Institute, Germany).

In addition, within the scope of these summer schools, the Popular Evening Talks series was launched, a first in Turkey. The popular evening talks given by the scientists teaching at the schools added a new dimension and excitement to the work here. In an environment where the scientific atmosphere of the world's leading universities was brought to TBAE, the lively discussions, exchanges of ideas, questions from professors to each other and from students to professors continued until late in the evening, and it was a spectacle worth seeing in terms of the excitement generated by basic science-oriented processes.

The speeches of Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, and Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, at these summer schools honored all the teachers and students and were a source of motivation and hope for our young people interested in basic science.
