Aziz Sancar Speech

Lecture series are organized in many countries around the world in the name of scientists who have contributed to the development of humanity with their groundbreaking work. For example, the 'Schrödinger Lecture' is organized annually by the Imperial College-Research University of London (United Kingdom) or the 'ICTP-Abdus Salam Lectures' are organized annually by the International Center for Theoretical Physics (Italy).

In parallel with these valuable examples in the world, starting from 2022, TBAE will organize the 'Aziz Sancar Lecture' event in honor of Nobel Prize-winning Turkish scientist, our esteemed Professor Aziz Sancar. This event will take the form of a speech delivered by a distinguished scientist every year in order to share the excitement of new scientific discoveries with the wider society and to contribute significantly to the formation of a visionary perspective in the scientific community.

For many years, Aziz Sancar has wondered how a cell lives at the molecular level and as a result, he discovered a basic repair mechanism in the cell for DNA damaged by ultraviolet rays and honored his homeland Turkey and the entire Turkish World with his Nobel Prize.

The 2022 Aziz Sancar Lecture will be delivered by Harvey James Alter, American scientist, virologist and physician, and winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

The event will take place online on September 27, 2022, from 18:30 to 20:00 (GMT +3).

NOTE: Zoom link information will be sent to those who apply for participation.
