Today, the production of knowledge in the fields of basic sciences has reached incredible heights, and human beings have gained the ability to understand and even intervene in natural phenomena that are far beyond their daily experience and difficult to imagine. While this knowledge has enriched the history of civilization, its practical results have led to tremendous technological and industrial development. Developed countries are constantly striving to translate innovative basic knowledge into practice as soon as possible, while accelerating basic science research.
In light of these developments in the world, it has become extremely important to re-establish TÜBİTAK's Basic Sciences Research Institute (TBAE) and to initiate pioneering research that will give Turkey scientific competitiveness at the international level. On December 3, 2015, at the TÜBİTAK Science, Special and Incentive Awards ceremony held at the Presidential Complex, our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who listened to our thoughts on this issue with great care and attention, expressed his open support. Subsequently, TBAE was removed from the Organizational Chart of BİLGEM and directly affiliated to the Presidency of TÜBİTAK with the decision of TÜBİTAK Science Board dated October 7, 2017 and numbered 270.
Currently, TBAE is being re-established within the scope of our country's strategic goals, with the awareness that Turkey is in dire need of basic science and in line with the will of our President on this issue, with determination and determination to carry out all research and education activities within the horizons of science.
