  • Yabancı dil yeterliliği; ilanda yer alan sınav türlerinden uygun puanları almak veya lisans öğrenimini %100 İngilizce bölümde okumak,

  • Providing the formula score:

For candidates with less than 3 years of experience:
Weighted Graduation GPA + (10,000 / University Placement Exam Rank) + Special Condition Additional Score* >= 3.20

For Candidates with 3 Years or More Experience:

Weighted Graduation GPA + (10.000 / University Placement Exam Rank) + 5*[1 / (1 + e (5 - year of experience) ) ] + Special Condition Additional Score* >= 3,20

*Additional points up to a maximum of 0.9 can be obtained from the Special Condition Additional Score.

Candidate Researcher

With the employment of Candidate Researcher, students studying in the 3rd and 4th grades of engineering departments of universities can become a Candidate Researcher by working part-time for at least 3 days and at most 10 days a month in the TÜBİTAK SAGE family in order to shape the future of the Turkish defense industry by standing out among thousands of candidates who continue their undergraduate education by participating in TÜBİTAK Recruitment Processes! You can start your career journey at TÜBİTAK SAGE by applying for Candidate Researcher recruitment through our Job Application System at kariyer.tubitak.gov.tr.

You can work as a Candidate Researcher at our Institute until the end of your undergraduate education. Candidate Researchers who graduate from undergraduate program can continue to work as a full-time Researcher without slowing down their career journey.

Our conditions for the Candidate Researcher Program:

    • To be a 3rd and 4th year student in the relevant departments of universities listed in the announcements,
    • Yabancı dil yeterliliği: İlanda yer alan sınav türlerinden uygun puanları almak veya lisans öğrenimini %100 İngilizce bölümde okumak,
    • Providing the formula score: Weighted Graduation GPA + (10,000/University Placement Exam Rank) + Special Condition Additional Score* >= 3.20

*Candidates who have competition degrees and awards in national and international competitions will receive 0.3 additional points.

Scholar (Participating Researcher)

Young domestic or foreign researchers who have completed their PhD in Türkiye or abroad or who are enrolled in a PhD program in Türkiye will be supported to participate as "Participating Researcher" in the research activities of TÜBİTAK Basic Sciences Research Institute (TBAE) in the fields of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology.

Participating Researcher support amount is determined as 32.000 TL per month for PhD students and 24.000 TL per month for PhD students. Participating Researchers will also be able to benefit from TBAE's Food and Transportation services.

This participation will be based on TBAE's research areas; Astronomy, Astrophysics, Quantum Physics, Cosmology, General Relativity, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Photonics, Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Bioinformatics, Biology and Genetics, Computational Sciences, Quantum Chemistry. Frequently Asked Questions

What are my responsibilities in the TBAE Participating Researcher Program?
In each 12-month period, you are expected to publish at least one academic article as first author in an international Q1 or Q2 indexed journal on the research topic you are applying for. During this period, it is sufficient if the article has been submitted to the journal or accepted for publication. You are also expected to take an active role in the events (schools, seminars, etc.) organized by TBAE and to fulfill additional tasks (such as event organizing committee) given by the TBAE management.

Who can apply for the TBAE Participating Researcher Program?
Students enrolled in a PhD program at any higher education institution and researchers with a PhD degree can apply to the program.

Who can be my academic advisor for my application?
Academics with expertise on the subject of your research proposal (your PhD thesis advisor, university faculty members) can be your academic advisors.

What topics can my research proposal cover?
You can submit research proposals in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Quantum Physics, Cosmology, General Relativity, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Photonics, Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Bioinformatics, Biology and Genetics, Computational Sciences and Quantum Chemistry.

I am working as a postdoctoral researcher/lecturer at a university. Can I apply to the program?
Yes, you can apply with a project in line with TBAE's research areas.

Can I apply to the program with my PhD thesis that I have just started?
Yes, you can apply if your thesis topic is related to the research areas of TBAE.

I completed my PhD at a university with a scholarship. Can I apply for my postdoctoral research with my former advisor?
Yes, your PhD supervisor can be your academic advisor for your research proposal.

Can TUBITAK staff apply for this program?
Yes, TUBITAK staff can carry out their studies at TBAE within the scope of their research topic, but they cannot receive scholarships.

Should I conduct my studies at an affiliated university or at your institute?
Remote working is possible for researchers residing outside the city. Researchers living in Istanbul/Kocaeli are expected to come to the institute at certain times. This is taken into account in the evaluation of the application.

Do you provide the necessary equipment or consumables to realize my project?
No, the support is only for the scholarship. There is no payment for additional expenses.

I am currently receiving another scholarship from TÜBİTAK (e.g. BİDEB), can I receive a participating researcher scholarship in this case?
No, you can only receive one scholarship from TÜBİTAK at the same time. In order to receive the participating researcher grant, the other TUBITAK grant must be finished.

  • Students whose insurance procedures are carried out by the higher education institution to which they are affiliated and who continue their education in undergraduate (2nd year and above) and associate degree departments of universities can benefit from internship opportunities.
  • For undergraduate and associate degree students, the Weighted Grade Point Average must be at least 2.50 out of 4. The grade point averages of the candidates whose university grading systems are in the 100 system are converted to the 4 system based on the "Table of Correspondence of Grades in the 4 system in the 100 system" published by the Council of Higher Education.
  • Foreign language certificate is not required during the internship application process.
