The Basic Sciences Research Institute continues its efforts to produce a wide range of qualified information in various branches of basic science and interdisciplinary fields, to organize scientific activities at the international level and to provide Turkey with scientific competitiveness. In this context, an international winter school on "Particle Physics Data Analysis" will be held at the Institute between February 10-16, 2025. The aim of the school is to provide the necessary data analysis infrastructure related to particle physics to students who want to do graduate studies in high energy physics, who are working in this field, and who want to go to CERN and similar research centers. The lectures, which will be given by instructors from various universities in Turkey and abroad, will provide practical and theoretical information about scientific data analysis, detector electronics, event generators, event reconstructions, signal extraction, cross section measurements and programs used in data analysis.
Application Requirements:
1. Participants can apply to attend the TBAE PFVA'25 Winter School in person or online via Zoom.
2. Face-to-face participants will be selected among students who have completed their 3rd year of undergraduate studies (at least 6 semesters are required), graduate (master's/doctoral) students and graduates, and are limited to a quota of 50 people.
3. Priority for face-to-face participation will be given to postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and master's students.
4. Candidates selected for in-person participation will be provided with free accommodation and travel assistance.
5. There is no application requirement for online participation via Zoom.
6. Applicants must have sufficient English reading and comprehension skills to understand the resources that will be sent in advance.
7. Students who will apply must have a computer programming / software infrastructure.
8. At the time of application, in addition to filling out the application form given below, one letter of reference (optional) and transcript document(s) must be submitted. tbae.iletisim@tubitak.gov.tr must be sent to the address. Applications of candidates with missing transcripts will not be evaluated. Please write 'TBAE PFVA'25 Winter School Application' in the subject of your e-mail. Optional reference letters tbae.iletisim@tubitak.gov.tr The application can be sent to the e-mail address by the applicant student or by the person providing the reference.
9. After completing the application form, a confirmation e-mail should be sent to the e-mail address you have provided. In some cases, the e-mail address you have provided may be identified as spam, so in case we do not receive the confirmation e-mail, please fill out the form again with another e-mail address and send it. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail in this way, no additional action is required. Since you have submitted the form, your application will be evaluated.
10. At the end of the winter school, only face-to-face participants will receive a certificate (no certificate will be issued for online participation).
11. The application deadline is January 28th and the results will be notified to the candidates accepted to the winter school via e-mail no later than February 3-4. If you do not receive a notification mail by February 3-4, it means that your application has not been accepted.
