Nowadays, fundamental science has achieved an incredible creation of new knowledge about the world. Humankind has gained the ability to understand the realms of nature which go far beyond our everyday experience and imagination. While enriching the history of civilization, the creation of new fundamental knowledge has led to tremendous technological and industrial developments through its practical applications. Developed countries are constantly striving to turn innovative knowledge into practice. In the meantime, they strongly support creative and groundbreaking fundamental research to ensure the flow of future innovative knowledge.
In the light of these developments, the re-establishment of TÜBİTAK Research Institute for Fundamental Sciences (TBAE) becomes of paramount importance to launch research and training activities at the cutting edge of fundamental science and thus strengthening Turkey’s scientific competitiveness at the international level.
On December 3, 2015, at the TÜBİTAK Awards Ceremony held at the Presidential Complex, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan listened with great delicacy and attention to our vision for the Institute and expressed his support for this vision. Since then, TBAE has begun to conduct research and training activities at frontiers of science. This is done with determination and perseverance and within the strategic goals of our country, with the awareness that Turkey desperately needs high-level fundamental science and in accordance with the will of the President of the country on this issue.
